Abstract

A field experiment was conducted at Agronomy Farm, S.K.N. College of Agriculture, Jobner (Rajasthan) during kharif 2021 to evaluate the effect of nutrient omission on productivity and profitability of sesame (Sesamum indicum L.). The experiment had 10 treatments i.e., optimum plane of nutrition (NPKSZnB), omission of N (-N), omission of P (- P), omission of K (-K), omission of S (-S), omission of Zn (-Zn), omission of B (-B) omission of NPK (-NPK), omission of SZnB (- SZnB) and control (-NPKSZnB), were laid out in randomized block design with three replications. The results showed that omission of all the nutrients, either alone or in combination, recorded maximum reduction in yield attributes, yield and economics of sesame. Nitrogen proved to be most limiting nutrient as the omission of N, either alone or in combination with P and K recorded maximum reduction in number of capsules plant-1, number of seeds capsule-1, test weight, seed, stalk and biological yield, net returns and B: C ratio of sesame in comparison of optimum plane of nutrition (NPKSZnB). Further, omission of SZnB in combination and alone omission of P, K and S also registered significant reduction in all the above parameters. On the other hand, the optimum plane of nutrition (NPKSZnB) resulted in highest crop productivity and profitability in sesame.
