Abstract

Although the dam, backwater fishery is a relatively new development in our country it becomes an important tool of socio-economic development. After going through literature it was found that no work has been undertaken to study on fisheries development on Barul reservoir. In order to increase the potential of inland fisheries present work has been carried out. Barul reservoir is situated on Manar River in Kandhar taluka of district Nanded with the catchments area of 1560 hectare and mean depth 1220 ft. It has a very rich fish fauna. The total fish yield recorded for the year 2004 & 2005 was 115 & 130 tons respectively.
