Abstract

Determination of area of given shape is attracting more and more attention by using simulation techniques. This is of particular interest when the given shape is an irregular one. When it is regular shape like rectangle, triangle, rhombus or circle, perfect mathematical formulae are available in literature. When they are irregular in shape, no specific mathematical formulae is available. Such irregular instances are abundant in the field of medicine, where estimation of burns or affected skin portions of the patients or wounds, lesions etc are crucial. An attempt is made in this paper to suggest a novel approach to estimate the area of such irregular shapes.

To verify and determine the correctness of the proposed approach we apply this procedure to regular shapes like: 1) Right Angle Triangle 2) Isosceles Triangle 3) Rhombus 4) Circle 5) Rectangle and extend the same to irregular shapes. After verification, the proposed approach is automated by computerized programs in Java.
