Banking Industry and Related Critical Issues: An Explorative View Gandhi Bharti Department of Psychology, Govt. College for Women, RKMV, Shimla-171 001, Himachal Pradesh, email: bgjakhu@gmail.com Abstract Businesses all over the world are living in an age of uncertainty. The primary concern of all growing organizations is how to maintain a proper fit with the dynamic environment in which they have to operate. This is a time when traditional rules are no longer applicable. Survival and success depends on any industry's ability to be creative, flexible and adaptable. However, Organizational decline and failure can be defined in terms of deteriorating demand, deteriorating resources and deteriorating performance (Warner, 1996). In this regard 100 bank managers from Public and Private sectors were critically questioned keeping in view-the factors behind success and failure; the reasons of mobilization of the customers from public to private sector banks; and the weaknesses of personnel as well as the sort of improvements required to overcome the weaknesses. The content analysis method was used to analyze the precise responses to the questions and determine the presence of certain noteworthy words or concepts. Further, the ϰ2 test was applied to see the difference between public and private sector bank managers. It was found that the private sector banks are significandy more successful and better performers than the public sector banks. Top | |
