Field efficacy of disease management modules against ginger rhizome rot under foothills of Arunachal Pradesh

Abstract

The field experiment was consisting of five disease management modules viz., microbial, plant, natural, chemical based treatments and untreated control. The results exhibited that highest germination and tillering was recorded in chemical treatment. Whereas, the microbial (88.58 % germination and 14.95 tillers/plant) and natural farming modules (87.03 % germination and 14.17 tillers/plant) were found on par with each other. Likewise, the lowest disease incidence was observed in chemical module (16.50 %) followed by microbial bio-pesticides module (19.50 %) with respect to crop yield, chemical treatment was yielded with highest quantity of rhizomes (15.50 t/ha) followed by microbial treatment (12.88 t/ha). Untreated control recorded was lowest germination (75.14 %), tillers (7.83/plant) and rhizome yield (9.00 t/ha) due to maximum disease severity (39.00 %). The observations revealed that rhizome treatment of native Trichoderma viride, Beejamrit, soil application jeevamrit and Pseudomonas flourescens can be used as components of Biointensive Integrated Disease Management module against Ginger rhizome rot in natural and organic farming systems.
