Without water, life cannot be supposed. In the universe, only earth has water that's why it is said as ‘blue planet’. This key feature of earth makes it unique for the existence of life. Water is necessary for all the activities related to human life viz. drinking, for daily routine activities, for agriculture, for industry etc. 3/4th part of the earth is covered with water. Even then also, world is facing acute crisis of water. Need for water is increasing day by day, but the quantity of water is limited. Ground water, rain water, ice water, all is diminishing day by day. If we talk about India, only 20% of India has adequate amount of water to fulfill the daily demand. The crude use of water and our habits regarding use of water will soon turn the earth to a thirsty planet. And then, as already declared by many scientists like Albert Einstein, the third world war will start only for water. Thus, there is an urgent need of water harvesting, proper use and management. Looking the whole scenario, this paper focuses on the present availability of water in the world. The paper thoroughly provides anthropological methods for the conservation as well as proper use of water. Methods of conservation and harvesting of water explained in this paper are of practical use and every one should incorporate these methods strictly to save water for betterment of humanity. Top |
