The effects of static and dynamic stretching on exercise performance of football players at Islamic Azad

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of static and dynamic stretching on exercise performance of the football players at Islamic Azad university of Ali Abad Katoul branch. Sixty three male students were selected for subjects in this study. They are randomized in three groups included static stretching group (N = 21), dynamic stretching group (N=21) and control group (N=21) that performed warm up protocols for two periods in 8 weeks, each period was include 4 weeks, 3 times per week and at least 15 minutes warm up per session before began exercises. The control group didn't participate in any kind of warm up in second 4 week protocol. The subjects were measured after each week training (8 times). The reasons of the three subjects gave for dropping out of the study is the desire to initiate a more strenuous exercise program. The results of the study reveal that a significantly improvement in dynamic stretching protocol compared to the Static and control groups in flexibility. This study was design to ascertain whether compare the effects on types of warm up on performance in football players. The finding of the study provide evidence that dynamic stretching leads to more flexibility and no significant difference in exercise performance and agility in football players is detected.
