Indian Ocean: Indian Perspective and Response Kumar Kamal Department of Political Science, Lucknow University, Lucknow, UP, India. Abstract The Indian Ocean has become the focus of great powers interests because of its strategic and politico economic importance. The growing linkages between the great powers and regional states have further caused concern. India has to defend long coast line of Indian Ocean. Besides, India has always advocated becoming Indian Ocean as zone of peace. We need to lookat new potions and approaches and a comparative framework, free from tensions and interventions in the internal affairs of our neighbors that should be based on conflict resolutions measures and developing Indian Ocean region for becoming intra regional trade and economic cooperation. Present paper purports to review Indian perspective and response towards Indian Ocean.
