Iron toxicity in luffa aegyptiaca Mill. cv long streak Jain Divya Department of Botany, Sanatan Dharma College, Ambala Cantt, (Haryana) Online published on 17 April, 2023. Abstract Metals like iron, copper, chromium, zinc, molybdenum, and manganese are necessary for plants to grow normally as trace components, but in excess, these metal ions are harmful to plants. The current metal content in the soil has multiplied due to mining, industrial processing, and application in agriculture. The present work was done to determine how varying iron concentrations affected seed germination and seedling growth in Luffa aegyptiaca Mill. Cv. long streak. It was discovered that this cultivar responded differently to iron at concentrations of 0, 10, 50, and 100 mg/l. Higher amounts of iron have an inhibitory influence on some of the examined parameters, while low concentrations promoted the growth parameters studied.
