Abstract The paper at hand deals with the minimization of the total rental cost for N×3 flow shop scheduling problem in which the effect of breakdown interval of machine is being considered. The algorithm defined in this paper is simple and easy to understand. An optimal sequence which minimizing the total rental cost regarding the problem has been discussed in this paper.
