Abstract Over the centuries, we always wondered how it was possible to send and receive messages, by ensuring that they were being kept secret by a third party who, intercepting the message, it is not supposed to understand or modify it. This aim is achieved by an obscuration of the message, called encryption in such a way that only the receiver of the message, knowing the key, is able to understand it through the decryption. In this paper, for better security an algorithm presented for encryption and decryption which employs the matrix (Qp)j and the well-known binary quadratic equation x2 − py2 = 1 where p is a prime.
