Abstract This paper focuses on a numerical approach to the minimization of total elapsed time in two stage open shop scheduling models. This study develops the open shop scheduling model for two machines in a fuzzy setting. Illustration is numerically solved to verify the effectiveness of the plan. Using Yager's Ranking Technique's Average High Ranking, α -cut, it is determined which fuzzy or defuzzy processing technique is more suitable. The results for the shortest total elapsed time are displayed as 2D graphs. By contrasting the outcomes with the precise solution and previously published work, the significance of the present system is further established. Additionally, the outcomes are contrasted with those obtained using the techniques created by Yager's Ranking Method, Average High Ranking, and α -cut.
