Abstract Sixteen physico-chemical variables and the abundance of zooplankton of two lakes in Chikmaglur were studied during the period of two years from October 2006 and September 2008. During the present investigation, the 35 zooplankton species were recorded which include cladocerans, rotifers, copepods and protozoa. The rotifer was found to be the dominant group in both lakes followed by cladocerans, copepods and protozoans. The pH values depicts that both lakes were permanently alkaline in nature through out the study period. The values of TDS, BOD, phosphate and the current status of zooplankton population indicates that the study lakes are eutrophic in nature Top Keywords Zooplankton, Physico-chemical analysis. Top |
