Performance of Post Emergence Herbicides in Soybean (Glycine max (L) Merill)

Abstract

The field investigation was conducted during kharif 201213 at experimental farm of Weed Science and Research Centre. For study the performance of post emergence herbicides for weed control in soybean. There were eight treatments with followed details. T1Fluazifop-p-butyl + fomesafen @ 250 g a.i.ha−1, T2-Fluazifop-p-butyl + fomesafen @ 500 g a.i. ha−1, T3-Imazethapyr @100g a.i.ha−1, T4-Fluazifop-p-butyl @ 125 g a.i. ha−1, T5-Chlorimuron @ 12 g a.i.ha−1, T6-Imazethapyr + Imazamox @ 30 g a.i.ha1, T7------Cultural practices (2hoeing +2 hand weeding)and T8-Weedy check. From the result of experiment, it can be concluded that, on the basis of seed yield and weed control efficiency the application of Imazethapyr + Imazamox @ 30g a.i.ha1 was found better over rest of the post emergence herbicides used in soybean and as regards the economics ofpost emergence herbicidesthe application of Imazethapyr + Imazamox @ 30 g a.i.ha−1 was found highly profitable as compared to rest of the treatments thus chemical weed control is good option where labour availability is severe problem. In Chlorimuron @ 12g a.i.ha−1 treated plot, dicot weed were controlled, however, monoct weed could not be controlled. Secondly the phytotoxic effect of Chlorimuron @ 12g a.i.ha−1 stunted the growth of soybean. Due to this combined effect of highdensity of monocot and phytotoxic effect of Chlorimuron @ 12g a.i.ha−1 the soybean plants population was comparatively less at the final stand as compared to other herbicides treated plot.
