Abstract An experiment was conducted to study the effect of seed invigoration on field performance and seed quality parameters in two varieties (DU-1 and Rashmi) of blackgram. Seven treatments were selected for the study viz., control, Hydration for 2hr, Iodine crystals @ 100 mg through calcium carbonate @ 2 g kg−1, GA3@ 50 ppm, KNO3 @ 0.5%, KH2PO4@ 0.5% and Chlorax @5 g/kg. The variety rashmi invigorated with GA3 @ 50 ppm was superior in yield attributing characters (number of clusters per plant, number of days to maturity, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per pod, pod length and seed yield) and seed quality parameters (Germination percentage, seedling vigour and field emergence) followed by KNO3 @ 0.5%, over those raised from the variety DU-1.
