Online published on 2 January, 2017. Abstract The measurement and analysis of different life stages of insect is known as morphometrics. This paper represents measurements of different life stages of six lepidopteran pests, i.e. Spodoptera litura Fabricius, Helicoverpa armigera Hübner, Agrotis ipsilon Hufnagel, Plutella xylostella Linnaeus, Pieris brassicae Linnaeus and Papilio demoleus Linnaeus. Scrutiny was made on different morphological parameters like colour, shape and size (in mm) of eggs, larva, pre-pupa, pupa and adult stages. Description related to identification of male and female pupa of noctuid pests was also included. Wingspan, body length, wing colour pattern and sexual dimorphism of adult stages were also described. Top Keywords morphometrics, tobacco caterpillar, gram pod borer, pupal length, wingspan. Top |
