Abstract

Total fourteen samples were collected from salt affected rhizospheric soil of mungbean from Danti and Navsari, characterized for different chemical and microbial parameters. All the samples have electronic conductivity (EC) and pH in saline-alkaline range suggesting that the mungbean plants were under saline-sodic stress. Percent organic carbon was negatively correlated with salinity and alkalinity. There was a negative correlation of salinity and alkalinity with total microbial population whereas positive correlation with organic carbon. Specific ACC deaminase producing PGPR population increases with increase in salinity and alkalinity, suggesting positive role of such bacteria in the mitigation of salt stress in plant.
