Abstract Gracilaria corticata and Kappaphycus alvarezii cultivation was carried out from October 2013 to April 2014 in two seasons (winter and summer) at the Okha Coast (220 28’ N and 690 05’ E), Okha Port, Gujarat, India. The total biomass of grown seaweeds in intertidal zone were measured and used for the extraction of phycocolloid viz. carrageenan from K. alvarezii and agar-agar from G. corticata. The quantity estimation of phycocolloids from cultured seaweed was performed. Top Keywords Phycocolloids, Carrageenan, Agar. Top |
