Correlation and Path-Coefficient Analysis for Yield and Yield Contributing Characters in Bread Wheat Tiwari Akanksha*, Mishra D.K., Shukla R. S., Choudhary Pratibha Dept. of Genetics and Plant Breeding, JNKVV, Jabalpur *email: twri.akanksha@gmail.com
Online published on 15 December, 2016. Abstract A study was undertaken to analyze the correlation and path coefficient analysis of yield and yield contributing traits in fourteen wheat genotypes grown at seed breeding farm of JNKVV, Jabalpur, during Rabi season of 2014–15. Present study was revealed that the grain yield per plant was positively and significantly correlated with grains ear-1, biological yield per plant and ear weight. In path coefficient analysis, the highest positive direct effect was noted in biological yield plant−1 followed by grains ear−1 and ear weight. So, the traits like grains ear−1, ear weight, biological yield plant−1 showed positive correlation with yield as well as they have direct effect on yield. Hence these traits can be used as selection indices in wheat to bring about the improvement in yield. Top Keywords Correlation, Path-coefficient, Wheat. Top | |
