Abstract

A present experiment was carried out to determine the efficacy of different treatments against thrips in roses under poly house condition, were carried out during Oct 2011-Nov 2012 at Satpuda Botanical Garden, College of Agriculture, Nagpur. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with eleven treatments and three replications. The result revealed that Acetamiprid 0.005% gave best control for management of thrips and recorded 79.26 per cent reduction on the basis of cumulative mean reduction of nymphal population at different intervals viz., 24 hours, 7 days and 15 days after spraying followed by Dimethoate 0.03% and Propargite 0.1% could reduced thrips population to the extent of 77.92 and 74.79 per cent respectively and they were at par with each other. Among the biopesticides, bioagent, botanicalswere recorded maximum reduction of nymphal population in 7 days and encourage management of thrips through bioculture. Chrysoperla carnea 4 eggs per plant recorded maximum reduction of nymphal population 7 days after treatment. The treatment acetamiprid 0.005% was most effective with highest yield of 34 number of cut flowers/plot. The treatment dimethoate 0.03% was the next best treatment recording 31 numbers of cut flowers/plot followed by propargite 0.1% recording 29 numbers of cut flowers/plot. Dimethoate 0.03% was recorded highest ICBR (141.21) indicating most economically viable treatment followed by treatment acetamiprid 0.005% (101.42), Verticillium lacanii 108 conidia ml-1 (58.44), Beauveria bassiana 108 conidia ml-1 (49.30), nimbicidin 0.15% (49.30), propargite 0.1% (37.88).
