Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore, India Online published on 15 December, 2016. Abstract Field experiment was conducted for three consecutive Samba seasons of 2011–12, 2012–13 and 2013–14 with mediumduration rice variety, Improved White Ponni (125–140 days) at wetlands of TNAU, Coimbatore to study the long term effect of application of different organic sources of nutrients viz., Daincha, FYM, Vermicompost and Poultry manure in a rice-pulse cropping system. In situ cultivation of green manure alone produced 38.7% more rice grain yield (2516 kg/ha) when compared to without green manure or any nutrients to rice, White Ponni during Samba season at Coimbatore (1543.3 kg/ha). In situ green manuring with Sesbania aculeata followed by farmyardmanure application on equal N basis to rice has resulted in higher grain yield of 4243.3 kg/ha and it was followed by green manure plus poultry manure (3906 kg/ha) and green manure plus vermicompost application (3756 kg/ha).
