Online published on 15 December, 2016. Abstract Investigations were carried out on population dynamics of castor semilooper, Achaea janata Linnaeus during 2009–2010 and 2010–2011 at College farm, Navsari Agricultural University, Navsari. The activity of A. janata on castor commenced from 43rd SMW (4th week of October) and remained active till 15th SMW (2nd week of April). The peak population was observed during 52nd SMW (4th week of December). The pest population gradually decreased from 1st SMW (1st week of January). However, the minimum population was observed in 43rd SMW (4th week of October). The correlation between the pest population of A. janata and maximum temperature (r=-0.724), minimum temperature (r=0.764), morning relative humidity (r=-0.472), evening relative humidity (r=-0.471) and evaporation (r=0.592) were significantly negative.
