Abstract

Background

Geriatric population is a potentially vulnerable group for malnutrition as per 2011 census of the World Health Organization.

Objectives

To estimate the knowledge attitude and practice of malnutrition in elderly population

Materials and Method

This community-based cross-sectional study was carried out in rural field area of MMIMSR Mullana Ambala Haryana, India among 300 elderly individuals aged ≥ 60 years during july 2015 to july 2016 by applying a questionnaire. Elderly individuals were interviewed after obtaining informed verbal consent.

Results

showed elderly people had good knowledge about malnitrtion but poor score was found in attitude and practice part

Conclusion and Recommendation

Growth chart monitring of elderly should start and a programme shouls start at Govt. Level for the nutrition of elderly like mid day meal started for children.
