Online published on 15 December, 2016. Abstract The study was conducted in Kalaburagi district of North Karnataka, during the year 2014–15. The total sample of 120 derived from three each taluks of a district using random sampling method for data collection. The respondents were asked to indicate the constraints faced in adoption of recommended practices of transplanting method of pigeon pea. The problems were expressed in terms of frequency and percentage. The constraints were mainly grouped into two categories namely, production problem and marketing problem. The production problem revealed that 78.33 per cent high cost of cultivation practices, followed by non-availability of labour (74.17%), high wages of labour (64.17%) and lack of knowledge to manage pest (59.17%). In case of marketing problem 72.50 per cent low price to the product, followed by exploitation by middlemen (44.17%), high transportation charges (30.00%) and no proper space to store the product (24.17%), respectively.
