Online published on 15 December, 2016. Abstract Diamond back moth (DBM), Plutella xylostella (L.) (Lepidoptera: Plutellidae) is a dangerous key pest of cabbage as well as Brassicas that is resistance to a wide range of insecticides. One of the major constraints in the successful cultivation of cabbage is the pest control. Farmers apply insecticides repeatedly, and indiscriminate use lead to the development of resistance to most of the frequently used chemicals causing failure of control. Thus, intercropping can provide an insurance against pests and adverse weather conditions over sole cropping. Intercropping affects the pests by changing microclimate through change in crop canopies. However, not enough information is available on the impact of intercropping on the diamond back moth incidence in cabbage. The present investigations were, therefore, conducted to evaluate the effect of six different intercrops on the incidence of diamond back moth, P. xylostella in cabbage. However, not enough informationis available on the impact of intercropping on the diamond back moth incidence in cabbage. In addition, crops in intercropping systems may improve soil fertility and the availiability of alternative sources of nutricious products, as well as reducing the incidence of insect pest attack and thereby maintaining lower pest control costs.
