Abstract Present investigation was undertaken to study antibacterial activity of skin mucus from the fish. Channa striatus against pathogenic bacteria viz. Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Corynebacterium spp., Aeromonas Spp, Streptococcus agalactieae. For this purpose the skin mucus of Channa striatus was collected by scarping the skin, and its antibacterial activity was carried out by disc diffusion method. The antibacterial activity of skin mucus was detected. The present study concluded that skin mucus of this fish can be used as potential antimicrobial components.
