Online published on 23 December, 2016. Abstract Hundred genotypes of dolichos bean (Lablab purpureus L.) were studied to estimate the genetic variability among characters. The experiment was conducted using a randomized block design with three replications during 2013–2014 at Raipur (C.G.). Range, GCV, PCV, heritability and genetic advance as per cent of mean were estimated for sixteen yield and yield contributing characters. Analysis of variance showed that there were significant differences among the genotypes for all the characters studied. The highest pod yield per plant was recorded in genotype IS-14 followed by IS-11, IS-2 and IS-18. The highest value of genotypic coefficient of variation (GCV)was recorded for podsper plant whereas, lowest in days to last pod harvest. The highest heritability estimate was observed for pod length followed by, days to first flowering, 10 pod weight and days to 50% flowering. Higher heritability estimates coupled with high genetic advance as percent of mean were observed for days to first flowering, days to 50% flowering, inflorescence length, flower per inflorescence, pods per inflorescence, pod length, pod width, 10 pod weight, pod per plant, green pod picking, green pod yield per plant, 100 seed weight and days to first pod harvest.
