Abstract An experiment was conducted to study the effect of different sowing dates and varieties on yield and economics of safflower for Vidarbha Region in Maharashtra. The treatments include 3 sowing dates (D1-37th MW, D2-39th MW, D3-41st MW) and 4 varieties (V1-Bhima, V2-AKS207, V3-PKV-Pink, V4-AKS-325). The experimental results indicated that sowing of variety Bhima in 41st Meteorological Week (MW) registered significantly maximum yield attributes viz., number of capitula plant−1, capitula weight plant−1, number of seeds capitula−1, weight of seed capitula−1, seed weight plant−1, seed yield ha−1, net monetary returns ha−1and B: C ratio for Vidarbha Region in Maharashtra as compared to rest of the treatment combination.
