Abstract

Phyto-sociological study was carried out in eight villages of Chamoli district of Garhwal Himalayas at the elevation of 1000–3000 m asl with northern and southern aspects. The IVI was recorded maximum in tree species in F1-forest in Boehmeria rugulosa, in F2-forest in Bombax ceiba, in F3-forest in Cedrus deodara, in F4-forest in Lyonia ovalifolia, in F5-forest in Machilus odoratissima, in F6-forest in Ficus palmata, in F7-forest in Quercus leucotrichophora and in F8-forest in Acer oblongum. The value of index of dominance (Simpson index) in tree species was higher in forest-F5 (0.794). The value of Species Diversity in tree species was highest in Forest-F5 (1.622). The value of tree species equitability was higher in forest-F5 (0.124). Tree species richness was recorded maximum in forest-F2 (0.109) and beta diversity was recorded maximum in forest-F7 (10.300).
