Online published on 2 January, 2017. Abstract Different methods of inoculation techniques were tried on urdbean susceptible cultivar PU-19 to ascertain the best method of artificial inoculation. Maximum infection (60.0%) was observed on plants sprayed with mycelial suspension followed by inoculums on sorghum grain (43.3%). Twenty five crop plant species viz. rajmah, lentil, green gram, soybean, cowpea, chickpea, pea, lobia, sem, pigeonpea, guar, ricebean, prosomillet, ridge gourd, rose, chilli, tomato, okra, tobacco, cotton, bajra, maize, rice, sorghum and brinjal belonging to different families were screened through artificial inoculation studies under glass house to find out the host range of R. Solani causing web blight disease in urdbean. The results indicate thatR. solani causing web blight disease in urdbean was able to infect all crop plants tested for host range. However, typical web blight symptoms was observed on plants belonging to family Leguminoseae followed by Gramineae.
