Abstract A disease complex involving root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita and root-rot fungus Rhizoctonia solani was observed in an ornamental plant Pseuderanthemum atropurpureum. Pathogencity tests conducted alsoconfirmed infection of the test pathogens on the P. atropurpureum. Based on the perennial pattern of females, morphological and morphometric characters of different stages of root-knot nematode, the pathogen was identified as M. incognita. Similarly, based on the morphological characteristics of fungus it was identified as R. solani. To the authors best knowledge this report not only constitute the first disease complex on P. atropurpureum but also reports new host for Meloidogyne incognita and Rhizoctonia solani from India and elsewhere.
