Abstract In order to enhance the physico-physiological seed quality parameters of Ruta graveolens-a medicinally efficacious multipurpose plant, the present investigation was carried out using physico-biochemical treatments and growth regulators (GA3, Kinetin). Among them most effective treatment was Hot water treatment at50°Cfor 5 min followedby 1% of KNO3 treatment for 4 h, pre-chilling at 5°C for 10 days and100 ppmof GA3 for 4 h, but the effect of 0.2% of Kinetin at 25°C, 5% of Vermiwash and Panchagavyadid not show significant difference when compared to the other treatments. Results of the treatments indicate the presence of coat induced and non-deep physiological dormancy in these species. The data's were statistically analyzed by analysis of variance (P<0.01).
