Abstract The present study was made to compare the draft required of variousbullock during puddling operation in hot and humid climate of Konkan region in Maharashtra. It was observed that crossbred, Dangi and Khillar pairs of bullocks developed higher draft, speed and covered more area than non-descript bullocks during the puddling operation. The average draft, speed and area covered by crossbred, Dangi, Khillar and local Non-descript bullocks were 32.55, 31.53, 31.37 and 29.40 kg, 51.77, 53.06, 56.0 and 47.22 meters per minute and 362.55, 367.06, 375.00 and 342.51 sq. meters/hr, respectively. The results noted that the draft power required by Crossbred, Dangi and Khillar bullocks was significantly higher than local non-descript bullocks during pudding operation in Kharif, Rabi and summer seasons in hot and humid climate of the Konkan region of Maharashtra.
