Online published on 15 December, 2016. Abstract Banana is major and economically important fruit crop cultivated on large scale in India as well in Gujarat. Majority of the farmers are now using drip method of irrigation in banana cultivation, hence this particular study was conducted toknow the economics of its cultivation under two set of irrigation methods viz; drip and flood. Multi stage sampling techniques was adopted to select the 120 banana growers from eachcategory. Simple statistical tools like mean, ratio, percentage was employed. Standard cost concept was used to derive cost of cultivation and cost of production. Linear production function withdummy variable was fitted to the data. Results showed that, Adoption of drip technology in banana cultivation has reduced use of critical inputs and increased the productivity of banana over conventional (flood) method of irrigation.
