Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during Rabi season 2015–16 at vegetable research field, Department of Horticulture, Allahabad School of Agriculture, Sam Higginbottom Institute of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences, Allahabad. The experiment was laid out in a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 13 treatments and each replicated thrice. The result revealed that T6 (150 kg N ha−1) recorded the maximum vine length (214.29cm), minimum days (49.33) to earliest flowering and maximum fruit weight(2.00) Maximum length of the lateral Branch (117.69cm) minimum days for fruit set (67.67) was recorded with T7 (150N+100P+150K) through FYM50% NPK in the form of urea, SSP, MOP. T10(150N+75P+100K) recorded minimum days required from sowing to first female flower appearance (60) and minimum node number at which male flower appears (4.33) was recorded with the same treatment. T1 (100N+150P+100K) recorded the minimum node number at which female flower appears is (7.33). The minimum days for fruit set (67.67) was required in treatment T6 (150N+100P+150K) increased rate of N application caused the earlier fruit setting. T6 recorded the maximum length of the green fruit (22.64) cm and T6 treatment recorded the maximum diameter of fruit (14.87 cm) and more number of fruits per plant. The maximum in number of branches and total yield per plant wasrecorded in T8 and T6. Maximum total soluble solid (9.33) was recorded with T10 (150 kg N ha−1) where as Vitamin C content (3.57) was recorded with T12 (110 kg N ha−1).
