Abstract

Cytological studies with respect to mitotic metaphase chromosomal observations showed the more or less variability among the different garlic genotypes. Meiosis in wild garlic is regular with 8 bivalents. Chromosomal studies showed that all investigated materials have a diploid number of 16 (2n = 16). One of the features of garlic is its high level of karyotype variability and significant differences between clones for chromosome length arm ratios.
