Abstract The study was taken up to examine the compound growth rate along with its associated instability in area, production and productivity of total oilseeds in Manipur, and also tofind out the contribution of area, productivity and their interaction effect towards production. It concluded that the highest growth rates of area and productionmore than 10% with associated instability of more than 25% were found in Imphal East, Imphal West, Tamenglong and Ukhrul districts. But deceleration in growth rate in term of yield was observed in these districts except Tamenglong. It also revealed that area effect is the dominant source for total oilseeds production in almost all the districts including the two regions and also as well as the state. So, the study highly recommends the use of HYV seeds, appropriate amount of fertilizers, pesticides and irrigation water; and also to maintain sustainable growth the concern government should carry out programmes on the line of Technology Mission on Oilseeds.
