Abstract

Field experiments was conducted at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore to study the effect of integrated weedmanagement in rainfed pigeonpea. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with three. The most dominant weed of the experimental plot was Carpet weed (Trianthemaportulacastrum Linn.), which constitutes the major weed population. Pre emergence application of pendimethalin at 1 kg ha−1 on 3 DAS with one hand weeding on30 DAS controls the maximum number of weeds throughout the crop growth period and it has the higher weed control efficiency among the different weed management practices. Among weed management practices, application of pendimethalin at 1 kg ha−1 on 3 DAS with one hand weeding on 30 DAS was foundtobe better interms of weed control and improved productivity in rainfed pigeonpea.
