Abstract Service industry today is growing at an accelerated pace and within it health sector is the prime. There is an increasing demand for better services in health sector. At the same time there is a continuous addition to the number of hospitals both government and public thus creating enormous competition. In this context the quality of services provided by these organizations is an important factor that could lead to customer satisfaction. This in turn depends on the quality of the human resources that they have and how they work in an organizational set up. Concerted and integrated effort of all people can make an organization successful and survive the competition. Teamwork is one such kind effort which can help the organization better achieve its objectives and confront with the numerous challenges from time to time. Whereas an organization might exert several efforts to develop their manpower but the motivation of the individuals to develop themselves is quite significant. This paper is an attempt to present a study that was carried out to determine the factors that motivated the employees in a modern multi-specialty hospital in India towards teamwork and individual development.
