Abstract The present study has investigated the relationship between Emotional Intelligence (EI) and employees’ job satisfaction in Golestan province Department of Roads and Urban Development. In this regard, Emotional Intelligence has been studied based on Goleman model and job satisfaction based on JDI model. The population consists of all employees in Golestan province Department of Roads and Urban Development including 290 individuals. Sample size was determined 165 individuals according to table of Kerjesi and Morgan. This research is practical in term of goal, and is survey and correlational in term of method. It was used two standard questionnaires to collect data about employees’ attitudes toward Emotional Intelligence and job satisfaction. It were used Cronbach’ alpha coefficient to assess reliability of questionnaire (EI 0.79, job satisfaction 0.76) and content validity to assess validity of questionnaire. It was used Pearson's correlation coefficient to analyze the data in the inferential statistics level. Surveys in the confidence level 99% indicated that: there is significant relationship between all aspects of EI (self-awareness, self-control, self-motivation, empathy and social skills) and employees’ job satisfaction. Also employees, who have a high EI, more likely have a high level of job satisfaction.
