Abstract

The present study was conducted during kharif 201314 at Regional Agricultural Research Station (RARS), Lam Farm. Twenty Egyptian cotton genotypes were grown in randomized complete block design with three replications. The data was analyzed to know the association between different yield and quality components and direct and indirect effects of different characters on seed cotton yield. Character association studies revealed that number of bolls plant−1, boll weight, micronaire value and lint yield plant−1 recorded significant and positive correlation with seed cotton yield plant−1at both phenotypicand genotypic levels. The path coefficient analysis indicated that the traits number of bolls plant−1 and lint yield plant−1exhibited high positive direct effects. It was concluded that the characters with positive correlation and high direct effects could be considered for selection criteria for seed cotton yield improvement in cotton.
