Abstract

Entrepreneurs have been the change agents and strategy planners responsible for the success of a business. They have always been viewed as strategists focusing only on Cost Benefit Analysis and implementing them to maximize returns in business operations. With the globalization of business operations, the nature, role and functions of business entrepreneurs has also changed. The practice of the application of managerial, conceptual and human relation skills to run a business has been defined by a process called entrepreneurship. There has been noticed an emerging paradigm in entrepreneurship which can be termed as “social entrepreneurship” i.e. application of the entrepreneurial approach towards meeting societal goals and towards changing market contexts. The purpose of this paper is to highlight the growing importance and relevance of social entrepreneurship in relation to sustainability in business operations management. This paper attempts to motivate potential entrepreneurs to adopt and pursue sustainable social entrepreneurship practices in business operations.
