Abstract Twenty cold tolerant varieties of rice (SKR−1 to SKR-20) were evaluated for yield, growth and yield attributing characters at High Altitude Research Station, Larnoo, Anantnag (J&K). In the field trials, variety SKR−1 proved significantly superior in terms of grain yield (43.74 q ha−1), and panicle length (22qha−1) followed by SKR-2. Plant height was maximum in SKR-2. Plant height was maximum in SKR-15 (103 cm), while SKR-16 recor4ded the maximum number of tillers (12.75) during both the years.
