Abstract Afield trial was conductedto studythe effect ofplanting time manipulation on stem borer infestation at the Research farm of IGKV, Raipur, Chhattisgarh during kharif, 2011 under irrigated situation. The rice cultivars tested were Karma mahsuri, MTU-1010 and Mahamaya, three planting times tested were 10/07/2011, 16/07/2011 and 24/07/2011 which were sown on 15/06/2011, 21/06/2011 and 29/06/2011, respectively. Results under degree of stem borer infestation observed in the form of white ear head showed that stem borer infestation at third planting time i.e. 24/07/2011, was higher as compared to those found at the first and second planting time in case of all the three varieties, viz., Karma Mahsuri, MTU-1010 and Mahamaya, respectively. While minimum stem borer infestation was observed at first planting time i.e. 10/07/2011, in case of varieties Karma mahsuri and Mahamaya but at second planting time i.e. 16/07/2011, in case of variety MTU-1010. Yield performance was found best in case of variety Karma mahsuri planted at 10/07/2011 and found least in variety Mahamaya planted at 16/07/2011.
