Reproduction and production performance of Aseel, an indigenous breed of chicken

Abstract

The present study wall conducted to estimate the different reproduction and production performance of Aseel birds under field conditions. The overall broodiness was 58 per cent in usual cases and 42 per cent in occasional cases. The overall hatchability on total and fertile eggs were 73.97 and 85.11 per cent, respectively, where as fertility was 84.28 per cent. The average egg weight recorded was 41 gms where as age at first egg was 29 weeks. The average egg production was found to be 33.17 eggs per year.
