Abstract An estimated 100 million people in India derive their source of livelihood directly from the collection and marketing of Minor Forests Produces (MFPs). MFPs provide essential nutrition to people living in forested areas, and are used for household purposes, thus forming an important part of their non-cash income. For many tribal communities who practice agriculture, MFPs are also a source of cash income, especially during slack seasons. Lac (resin), mahuwa, flower and tamarind, Tendu leaves, sal seeds and chironji, Chironji, mango, mahuwa fruits, silk cocoons and bamboo are some common forests produces. MFPs are especially important for the poorest households living in forested areas, especially women. MFP is gathered by the people living in forested areas. Some amount of primary processing, such as drying of leaves, deseeding, etc. are taken up by the gatherers. Primary Level Procurement of produce is done at Haat Bazaars. So it is very important to make infrastructural development at this place for safety of locals and persevering produce at this point for further procurement.
