Abstract

There has been an ongoing conversation for decades now regarding the relevance of communication skills for the smooth functioning of any societal setup. Not only is this a phenomenon in the human race, but communication is mandatory for all kinds of species that exist on this planet. Every living organism has found a way to communicate with each other. But as human beings are considered to be the most evolved species on Earth, one of the major reasons behind the same is that we have found a way to co-exist in society by establishing languages as per our convenience in order to make communication smoother. But this communication process can be hampered if the language is not common among the two parties communicating. We live in an era wherein being multilingual has become an important aspect of everyone’s lives. But what often happens is that the influence of one’s mother tongue is very evidently visible on the new language someone is learning. This is a common affair in a country like India where multiple dialects and languages coexist. When an Indian begins learning English or even using it in everyday life, the impact of his mother tongue is quite evident. This is what this research paper will explore.
