Online Published on 06 January, 2022. Abstract Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a multivariate illness that affects individuals of all ages. Life style changes and environmental variables are the important elements that contribute to the development of the diseases. This study aims to explore the total phenolic, antioxidant,in vitro α-amylase, α-glucosidase inhibition activity and in vivo antidiabetic studies to identify the differential composition of phytocompounds present in Syzygium kanarense (Talbot) Raizada leaves extract of ethyl acetate (SKLEE). Characterization of SKLEE were done by Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) and Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis. The discovered chemicals aided in the inhibition of the enzymes α-amylase and α- glucosidase. The anti-diabetic efficacy of SKLEE was investigated in diabetic rats produced by streptozotocin (STZ). During this experimental period, body weight was recorded. Blood parameters such as glucose level, liver function, renal function and lipid profile were examined after 21 days of the experiment. The GC-MS study revealed the existence of many phytochemical substances in SKLEE. In comparison to the conventional medication, the animal treated with SKLEE had superior antidiabetic action and was able to reverse and control the course of the illness. SKLEE antioxidant activity, on the other hand, was comparable to that of conventional ascorbic acid. According to the findings, SKLEE has potent antidiabetic properties that have been scientifically validated for the treatment of diabetes.
