Effect of Insecticidal Seed Treatment on Different Growth Parameters in Mungbean Seedlings Rathor Y.S.*, Lal S.S., Bhattacharya A. Indian Institute of Pulses Research, Kanpur-208 024 *E-mail: yogendra_rathor@yahoo.co.in
Online published on 31 October, 2013. Abstract Mungbean (Vigna radiata cv. PDM 54) seed were subjected to either smearing or soaking (30 minutes) in sixteen different insecticides along control (water) under two concentrations and germinated for seven days. Growth parameters in seedlings viz, dry matter allocation and length of radical and plumule were observed against various treatment combinations. Vigour index as well as shoot to root ratio were calculated. It was observed that germination per say was not affected by insecticide treatments. Vigour index, on linear basis was lowest under neem seed kemel extract treatment as compared to other insecticides. It was measurements was comparatively low as compared to dry matter basis. Method of length measurements is accurate and sensitive for small variation. However, dry matter method is practicable quick and suitable but with large variations.
