Variability, Correlation and Path Analysis Studies in Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench) Jain Sudhanshu*, Indapurkar Y.M. Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, College of Agriculture, RVSKVV, Gwalior *Email: sudhanshujain07@yahoo.in
Online published on 23 May, 2013. Abstract Significant variations were recorded among the genotypes for various morphological and yield attributing characters in sorghum. High values for phenotypic coefficient of variation (PCV) and genotypic coefficient of variation (GCV) was recorded for grain yield/plant (g) and fodder yield/plant. High heritability coupled with high genetic advance was observed for plant height at maturity and fodder yield/plant and grain yield/plant. Fodder yield/plant and 1000 grain weight were found to be significant and positively correlated with Grain yield/plant. The result of path coefficient analysis showed that days to 50% flowering, plant height, length of panicle, width of panicle, fodder yield/plant and 1000 grain weight had positive direct effect on grain yield/plant.
